BREAKFAST CLUB OF CANADA
HIGHLIGHTS
CONTRIBUTIONS TO PUBLIC POLICY IN QUEBEC
In Quebec, Breakfast Club of Canada has upheld its role as a dedicated player, actively contributing to public
policy consultations. The Club has submitted briefs in connection with the MAPAQ’s Biofood Policy and the
Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux’s new National Preventive Health Strategy, and has also been
asked to participate as an expert in various consultations on school nutrition and food security. This recognition
underscores the Club’s credibility and expertise in nutrition, public health and sustainability.
Through these initiatives, the Club asserts its role as a key partner in supporting not only children’s day-to-day
nutrition, but also the evolution of public policies in favour of healthier, more sustainable food environments for
all young people in Quebec.

TASK FORCE FOR A UNIVERSAL SCHOOL FOOD PROGRAM IN QUEBEC (CHANTIER PASUQ )
The Chantier PASUQ illustrates how concerted efforts can influence public policy on school nutrition. This initiative brings together a number of key players, including Breakfast Club of Canada, La Cantine pour tous and
its members, for lunches in the target region, Ateliers Cinq épices, La Tablée des Chefs, and the Association
québécoise de la garde scolaire (AQGS) for the snacks component, Équiterre for the sustainable nourishment
dimension, the Depot and the Coalition for Healthy School Food.
Under the Chantier PASUQ , a pilot project was set up to unite the players involved in school nutrition across
Quebec, the school community and school service centres. It includes a few elementary and secondary schools
already offering breakfast, lunch and snack programs, and food literacy activities. Together, the partners will
explore the best ways to optimize the financial investments, reduce the burden on schools and organizations, and
maximize the impact for students.
This collaborative effort paves the way for the possible creation of a cross-sectoral government committee, as
recommended, to promote the pooling of expertise and support the move towards a universal school food
program in Quebec.
