HIGHLIGHTS
BREAKFAST CLUB OF CANADA
RELATIONS WITH INDIGENOUS PARTNERS
VISITS TO BREAKFAST PROGRAMS IN THE CREE NATION
At the end of the 2024–2025 school year, three members of the Programs and Government Relations teams
had the privilege of visiting programs in schools in the communities of Chisasibi, Waswanipi, Mistissini and
Oujé-Bougoumou, located in Eeyou Istchee, the territory of the Eastern Cree Nation (Quebec). The teams also
met with Cree Nation government officials. This experience and these discussions deepened the relationship
with Cree partners and gave the Club a clearer understanding of the communities’ realities. Inspired by these
meetings, the Club remains committed to ensuring access for Indigenous youth to nutritious, sustainable and
culturally significant food.
COLLABORATION WITH THE WIICHE’IWAYMAGON GROUP
Breakfast Club of Canada is a proud signatory of the Wiiche'iwaymagon Alliance, dedicated to improving the
living conditions of rural, remote and northern First Nations and Inuit communities. The mission is to actively
support the development of sustainable solutions for food sovereignty and security in our member communities
in northern Manitoba, northern Ontario and western Nunavut. This collaboration enriches the work we do and
contributes to a more equitable future for all children and elders.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The collaboration of our government and Indigenous partners plays a key role in the development and impact
of our work. Their invaluable support and their commitment to our mission make all the difference. Thanks to
them, we are in a better position to meet children’s nutritional needs and foster their well-being. Together, we
are continuing our journey towards a future where no child starts their day on an empty stomach.
